Situ Gede is the name of a small lake (Setu means lake) located in the Village Situgede, West Bogor, Bogor City.
Located on the edge of the Forest Dramaga, namely the research forest owned by the Forestry Research Agency, Ministry of Forestry, the lake has an area of approximately 6 hectares is a daily recreation for the citizens of Bogor. The visitors can be boating, fishing, or a walk in the forest canopy. Lakes and forests are also often used as a filming location and soap operas.
Tourist sites are located approximately 10 miles from the center of the city of Bogor, or about 3 miles north of Terminal Bubulak. Situ Gede actually contiguous, or are in one system, with several others in nearby situ. Namely Situ leutik (now disappeared), Situ Long, and Situ Bird. The latter is located in the Village Cikarawang, District Dramaga, Bogor Regency.
Not far from this lake there is a Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR, Center for International Forestry Research, and ICRAF, The World Agroforestry Center), or BMKG Dramaga Climatology Station and Campus IPB Dramaga.
